"Beyond Structure" will be held on May 3-4, 2008 in the theatre of the beautiful Westin Hotel, on Century Blvd., right off the 405 (San Diego Freeway).
For those of you who live in LA, this location is a straight shoot down (or up) the 405, virtually free of traffic on a Saturday or Sunday morning (when "Beyond Structure" begins). Also, because the Westin is near the 405 and not next to the airport, you completely avoid all the airport traffic.
For those of you flying in, the Westin is just a 10-minute cab ride from the airport (about $10 or less), and offers you a great rate: $135 (plus tax) per night. However, the last day to get this rate is Monday, April 7. So please don't delay in making your hotel reservation. Another reason to make your reservation soon is because they've set aside a very limited block of rooms for our group, as there are some other big groups in the hotel during those days.
Always check the Westin website to see if you can beat the rates they tell you over the phone.Call (310) 216-5858 to reserve a room. If the reservations agent claims that he or she hasn't heard of Beyond Structure or David Freeman or screenwriting and that you don't therefore get the discounted hotel rate, then ask for Rochelle in sales and catering, or call her directly at (310) 417-4512. She's the one who set up the special rate.
The Westin has a shuttle that will pick you up from, and drop you off to the airport for free -- although you may want to just take a cab. Call the hotel for shuttle information.Because the rooms made available to our group are limited, if you find that the Westin is filled even after you tell them you're coming for "Beyond Structure," you have some great alternatives:
There are many hotels within walking distance or at most a 5-minute cab ride from the class. Use MapQuest.com to see where these hotels are in relation to the Westin. Because there are so many hotels, you can often find good prices even at the best ones. After calling for their prices, see if you can beat their prices on their own websites, or on travel websites like Expedia.com or Hotels.com.
The best way to read what others have to say about a hotel is TripAdvisor.com They've got user reviews for most hotels in the world.
Most of the larger hotels have shuttles that will pick you up from, and drop you off to the airport for free -- although you may want to just take a cab. Call the hotels for information about their shuttles.

The LA weather in early May is usually quite nice. Days tend to be from the mid-'60s to the mid-'70s, with evenings about 5 to 10 degrees cooler. Bring a coat...but you may not need it much (although a sweater would be nice since we air condition the room.)
Those of you who are flying in might want to make a vacation out of it. You'll have no problem finding tons to do and see in Los Angeles, including:
